Smart Agriculture Institute (FINAL)

In collaboration with our regional community colleges and industry partners, STEM East is pleased to host this Industry in Schools Teacher Leadership Institute for teachers to explore regional career opportunities in Smart Agriculture. The institute will provide an interactive dive into smart agriculture careers while highlighting community college pathways for career preparation. Institute staff will work with teacher leaders to use this experience as regional context for their K-12 standards instruction, making lessons more engaging and relevant for students. Instructional conversations are designed to benefit all K-12 teachers in core content areas. If you teach any or all of these subject areas - science, mathematics, social studies, ELA - at any grade level, then this institute is designed for you.

Goals:

  • Engage with and understand the diversity of careers within this regional industry cluster.
  • Investigate current and emerging trends & technologies within this regional industry cluster.
  • Align and integrate this regional industry cluster into grades K-12 NC course standards.
  • Develop a regional teacher leadership cohort focused on creating engaging instruction contextualized by regional industry clusters.
Institutes are exclusively for teachers who work in one of our STEM East member districts. They are free of cost to teachers as expenses are covered through district membership fees, state funds, grants, and partner contributions. The only cost to teachers is their travel to and from the institute.
  • Teachers will receive a $175/day stipend (must attend both days)
  • If traveling more than 50 miles one way, hotel accommodations will be provided by request.
  • Meals will be provided for both days of the institute.
  • An industry banquet on the evening of day one of the institute is required for all attendees.

You are required to use your school email to register for this event.
All applications are filtered by member district email domains. If you have any issues, please email the event organizer.
