Biopharma Institute (FINAL)

In collaboration with our regional community colleges and industry partners, STEM East is pleased to host this Industry in Schools Teacher Leadership Institute for teachers to explore regional career opportunities in Biopharma and Life science. The institute will provide an interactive dive into biopharma careers while highlighting community college pathways for career preparation. Institute staff will work with teacher leaders to use this experience as regional context for their K-12 standards instruction, making lessons more engaging and relevant for students. Instructional conversations are designed to benefit all K-12 teachers in core content areas. If you teach any or all of these subject areas - science, mathematics, social studies, ELA - at any grade level, then this institute is designed for you.
Goals:
- Engage with and understand the diversity of careers within this regional industry cluster.
- Investigate current and emerging trends & technologies within this regional industry cluster.
- Align and integrate this regional industry cluster into grades K-12 NC course standards.
- Develop a regional teacher leadership cohort focused on creating engaging instruction contextualized by regional industry clusters.
- Teachers will receive a $175/day stipend (must attend both days)
